Land of Thievesso one of my friends that i met in res had a best friend in this really cool indie(ish) band called Robot Juice. apparently they're getting big and gaining momentum. check them out on purevolume...and who knows, give them a few years, and you can hit them up at your local HMV (possibly)...or you can be an ass and steal from these starving kids trying to make an honest buck here and there...asses...
so here we go. land of thieves, ladies and gentlemen:
Where has our conscience gone?
I don't feel a thing
Conform without a thought
I won't be convinced
Room 101 is full
Take a number and wait in line
They'll soon be through with you
You'll think like them in no time
Soon you'll know
Soon you'll know
What its like to be me
Soon you'll know, soon you'll see
Soon you'll know
Welcome you to the land of,
Welcome to the land of thieves!
My thought process is lost
No room to think
Home of the brave you're wrong
I won't give in
Room 101 is full
Take a number and wait in line
They'll soon be through with you
You'll think like them in no time
Soon you'll know
Soon you'll know
What its like to be me
Soon you'll know, soon you'll see
Soon you'll know
This is what we're made to hear and see
Soon you'll know
Soon you'll know
You're made to be just like me
Just like me, just like me
Soon you'll know
Welcome you to the land of,
Welcome you to the land of Thieves!
Pickin' up the pieces that fell down on me
I couldn't have enough, and I failed to feel your pain
I wasn't right to say you should be like me
I only said it cause I wanted you free
Stop the time I can't imagine life without a lie
Cut the hate, even I tried to make a friend through a fight
Something so fasle
A way we're forced to see
A Purchased life
No more than a simple receipt
All the fears they tell us are becoming true
In order for change all we need is you!
Home of the Brave please listen
There's something wrong with this whole situation
Let me be free!
Let me live my life, I don't want your vile infection
Give back my soul
I don't want to be another one controlled
Soon you'll be free (soon you'll be free)
Soon you'll be free from the land of thieves

we're up for sale, everything that we own is up for sale - the (international) noise conspiracyhow much did we sell for? i'm curious to know. i hope you got a good deal. did they throw in one of these bad boys:

a Panasonic 50" Widescreen Plasma HDTV, retail: $4499.99
or one of these suckers:

BMW M6 Coupe retail: dunno...a lot?
...probably not...thats some expensive ish right there, and really, evidently, we weren't worth that much to begin with.
interesting tidbit, did you know that by the time a person is 18 years old, they would have spent over $1 million from their parent's pockets?
...pffft deal's off. it sucked to begin with.
popsicles and lollipops.
thats all we were worth.

its funny how you find comfort in the oddest places sometimes. i went to JOY on friday, and it started off with just sarah and i. and for a while we wondered if JOY was supposed to be at church that night, or if it was even happening at all for that matter. then after a while, people started filing in. anyways, at the end, we got into groups for prayer, and i was with sarah and bryan, and i can honestly say that i found comfort there. i had never really known them on a level like that, but i enjoyed it. it was nice. so yea, break out of your comfort zone once in a while. talk to others that you dont usually talk to. you never know what others have to say about your situation. i think it was really encouraging. i really want to get back into service again. i was actually contemplating being a softball captain after jeremy came to me for advice and asked me what i thought about him doing it. i kinda want to do it now, but its too late now, and next summer i will be in school...meaning if i so choose to do it, i will have to wait two years. but i guess that's all in God's timing. its plenty of time for me to prepare myself and for Him to prepare me to do His works. there are definately a few things i think i should probably fix up before i captain, but in due time, they will be fixed and i trust that the big guy upstairs knows what He's doing.
so uh yea...i decided to be cool and try out the support-myself-on-a-lightpost-with-my-arms trick...but i couldnt do it without a little help.

but even with the help, i still failed...horribly
...
...
...
... as this picture tells

...and them sometime after that, the cops came!!!
end of story. exciting no?
i thought so.

dear coop company: for keeping me in the office and sending out all the other first year coop students to worksites where they actually learn, and keeping me inside to do all your b___work, you can lick my testicles.
im so friggin pissed off. it seems like for the past 2 weeks, there has been ONE day where i was out on a site while another coop student was in the office doing jack crap. all the other times, if there is ANYONE who isnt sent out to a site, its me. im stuck doing all their crap work. i know ive complained about this before on this blog, but it seems like things are going to get a helluva lot worse before they get better.
im always the first to get shafted. and believe me, its a huge freaking shaft. its like getting shafted by a telephone pole.
these past 2 weeks, i have been on site...oh...twice?!? this is bull. doing odd jobs around the office? might as well be wiping my coworkers asses before they come out of the washroom.
yesterday, i was stuck hanging pictures and certificates in someone's office!!! where the hell is that in my job description? oh wait, there it is. i see it now. "hanging up pictures and certificates". wow. how did i ever miss that one?
and today, i got two stacks of paper to play with. each had about 200-250 pages or so. they were filled with compaction test results, about 7-18 tests per page, and for each booklet, there were two values that i had to calculate averages for! damn that was a lot. i didnt even finish it. it was a crapload of work. i was punching away numbers in a calculator, making over 10,000 calculations...BY HAND! work like this will make anyone go insane. and moreover, it was for the client. what does the client need this information for? they know crap about engineering. these values are useless to them. thanks for making me bust my ass all day to do this. TEN FREAKING THOUSAND!!! work that i could write a computer program for and compute. an hour (perhaps less) to write, 2 mins to execute? as opposed to 8.5 hours and still not done. GOOD JOB THERE idiot!
im not complaining becuase i have to do this. im complaining becuase im doing this when all the other coop students are out learning. im complaining because its unfair treatment. there are people who have not been in the office ONCE. he's constantly out in the field learning and DOING stuff. not ONCE has he been in the office doing b____work like me.
and another thing. am i SUPPOSED to fear for my life at work? yesterday i went out to hold a ladder for a guy at a site. although my presence there was not only a waste of my time but also unnecessary. the ladder was positioned in a way that when propped against the wall, the bottom was anchored by another wall. it wasnt moving. i did NOT have to hold that ladder. and i was just sitting there on the curb while the guy was up on the roof doing his inspection for an hour. fun no? but uselessness aside, i swear, this idiot was the WORST driver ever. i have never been so afraid for my life in a car. so basically, this guy likes to drive without hands and without looking at the road. he was reading a map that he placed on the steering wheel, without taking occasional glances up at the road ahead. he took both hands off the wheel to look for his glassses in the glove compartment...and i was sitting in the passenger seat!! I could have retrieved his glasses for him. and worst of all, on the way back he FULLY TURNED AROUND while driving to look for something in his backseat. he didnty reach back to grab somehting, no, he turned around to LOOK for something. idiot! and when i told him to just drive and dont worry about what was in the back he said "dont worry, if antyone gets killed, it will be me, not you." WTF?!?!?!?! what the hell was that supposed to mean? and then he put the book (what he was looking for) on the steering wheel and begin to write in it!!!! WHAT AN IDIOT!!!!! damn was i ever scared. i told him too. friggin idiots.
i hate this place with a passion.

EWBso i've been getting EWB emails for about...oooh, say 4 months now? o by the way, EWB is engineers without borders, a volunteer organization that sends engineers to third world countries to help alleviate some of the issues such as how to get safe, clean drinking water, and providing shelter etc.
but anyhows, i have yet to read a single one of their emails. i should either unsubscribe or ACTUALLY get involved in it. i prefer the latter, but its just im soooooo lazy and lethargic
somtimes.
note to self: join EWB next term.
on a side note, i got the chance to work with concrete testing today...EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

today, work SUCKED. im too lazy to explain, i just explained it to my mom, and i got more and more pissed off about it as i went on.
basically, i'm an engineering student. im on coop. im there to learn. i am NOT there to do your stupid dummywork for you. i was NOT hired to :
- clean your garbage
- wipe your tables
- sweep the floors
- file crap away
- reorganize storage crap
- and move boxes from one room to another.
i WAS hired to:
- go out into the field and learn about engineered fill, asphault, concrete, and construction
- do testing and inspection
- perform lab examinations
for the past two and a half days, ive been doing the former. this is bull. i was pretty pissed today. tomorrow, things wont change. thunderstorms are forecasted for tomorrow, and because of specific moisture specifications, compaction cannot proceed, thus we will all be in the office tomorrow.
im not your secretary, you have 3 of those. im not your janitor -- i will clean up after myself in the lab, but i will not clean for the sake of cleaning. i am not a professional friggin box mover person.
dont hire more students than you can handle. make sure you actually have jobs for them before you eagerly jump into such an investment. stop wasting my time, stop wasting your time, and resources. do both of us a favour and hire only number of students you need. funny, cuz when the job was first posted, there were 4 positions for lab and field technicians. whast the situation now? well, they have 5 field technicians, and 3 lab technicians. instead of 4 students, they have 8. GOOD JOB THERE! and now there isnt enough stuff for everyone to do...i just got shafted, big time.
i jsut dont get it. he switched me out of my dream site; a site that he promised i would stay at, to a site that just stopped working altogether, and wont send me back to the original site,...OR ANY OTHER FREAKING SITE for that matter...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
friggin pissed
friggin pissed
seriously, if you REALLY have nothing to do, send me home. i dont care if i dont get paid. just dont make me do your slave work. and you can replace the word "slave" with any word you wish.
